Lake Como to Lago di Piano

After a night of very little sleep due to the van been battered by the wind we were up and out of the campsite pretty much as soon as the barrier was up. I might add we were not the only ones, our neighbours in a VW camper left just before us.

We decided to head away from Lake Como back to a smaller lake, Lago Di Piano which is west of Como. There are a couple of campsites on the lake shore and a small town above with a good supermarket, bank etc all within walking distance of the campsites. We stopped at Camping Ranocchio which is a large site but wasn’t crowded and there were lots of trees dividing the pitches. This did make manoeuvring a bit difficult for the larger motorhomes and caravans. We witnessed several near misses and a couple of hits. Thankfully it wasnt us on any of these occasions.

Late afternoon on our day of arrival we were joined by some friends from back home Paul, Sue, David and Rufus the spaniel in their Adria camper. We haven’t actually seen that many British people during our trip so it was great to have some company for the last couple of weeks. Let’s face it a month together  24/7 is enough for any married couple!

We spent the next three days kayaking, paddle boarding and generally relaxing by the lake in the sunshine. It was hot during the day which meant we had some impressive thunderstorms in the late evenings.
