Stechelberg to Wilderswil

Andy’s ankle was a lot better on our second day in Stechelberg so we went for a little wander up the valley, which did involve me having to detour off the path to go round some cows. They build them big over here and with horns. We came across a lovely bar and restaurant in the valley which we didn’t expect to be open, which would be a welcome surprise if we had any money on us….. doh!

We made up for missing lunch by having dinner out at the local hotel next to the campsite. Dinner was Pizza, Black Forest gateaux and Apple Strudel with a side of cows walking past.

The next day it was just a short hop and a skip along the Lauterbrunnen Valley. The weather is really hot so we decided to move to the top of the valley and enjoy a day relaxing in the sunshine.

En route to Wilderswil we stopped at the village of Lauterbrunnen for a look at one of the 72 waterfalls in the valley, the Staubbach Falls and a wander around town. We then headed just a few more miles up the valley to the town of Wilderswil for a lazy afternoon and didn’t do anything else apart from an evening walk around the town and a quick stock up on supplies, mainly beer from the local supermarket.

The campsite is only small and in the middle of a lovely town. It is strange having houses all around us after the last sites that we have stopped at.  It is a very friendly site and costs 36CHF without electric plus extra for the showers.
