Wilderswil to Lucerne

We left Wilderswil and after a quick shop at Lidl drove the 50 miles to Lake Lucerne. Rather than park up in the town centre we decided to go directly to a campsite that was only a mile or so walk into town and leave the camper there. If you just wanted to park up there is a large pay car park next to the campsite with no height restrictions.

The walk into town along the promenade was very scenic with places for Finn to cool off in the water and lots of bars and hotels to people watch. In Lucerne we headed for the old town (Altstadt) and walked over the 14th century Kapellbrucke spanning the Reuss River. Unfortunately the roof is a reconstruction as the original was destroyed in a fire in 1993. We then recrossed the river on the totally original Spreuerbrucke constructed in 1408 back to the old town. To get a roof top view you can climb a tower and walk part way round the medieval ramparts (museggmauer). The wooden steps are quite steep but we all managed them including Finn.

The old town was nice for a wander but the promenade along the lake was the nicest bit in our view.
